Vinyl Vibes: The Latest Releases to Spin Right Now [14th June 2024]

"Discovering a new album on vinyl is like finding a hidden treasure; the experience is immersive and unforgettable."

For those who revel in the tactile joy of vinyl, there's nothing quite like the anticipation of new releases. This week brings a host of fresh records that are set to delight and surprise. Whether you're into rock, jazz, pop, or something more eclectic, our curated selection of new vinyl releases is sure to have something that catches your ear and fuels your passion for music.

  1. Everything You Want (25th Anniversary Edition) by Vertical Horizon: Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Vertical Horizon's multi-platinum selling album *Everything You Want* is being reissued on translucent orange vinyl. This special repress includes some of the band's most beloved tracks, such as the title song "Everything You Want," "You're A God," "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)," and more.
  2. Souvlaki by Slowdive: *Slowdive's* second studio album, *Souvlaki*, was originally released in 1993. Formed in 1989, the English shoegaze band primarily consisted of Nick Chaplin (bass), Rachel Goswell (vocals, guitar), Christian Savill (guitar), Simon Scott (drums), and primary songwriter Neil Halstead (vocals, guitar). Although *Souvlaki* is now regarded as one of the greatest shoegaze albums of all time, it didn't receive much recognition upon its initial release. The album features synthesizer contributions from Brian Eno on "Sing" (which he co-wrote) and "Here She Comes". It is praised for its beautiful melodies, captivating lyrics, and striking cover art.
  3. Love Letter by Fireground: For *Love Letter*, Angela and Daniele have crafted a captivating blend of techno styles that echo the turn of the century with remarkable flair and exuberance, truly embodying the musical term *giocoso*. Building from harmonic foundations, their music reaps great rewards: the inclusion of a string section conjures images of an ecstatic club crowd; a looping groove evokes a nostalgic joy likely to resonate at many upcoming festivals; a blissful pad envelops a track like the morning sun's first rays; and a filtered synth ascends to meet a xylophone-like countermelody. Each track brims with moments of sheer happiness. Collectively, the album promises—and perhaps delivers—a summer of pure ecstasy and joy.
  4. Key by Alison Moyet: To mark her 40th year as a solo artist, Alison Moyet releases *Key*, a compilation featuring 16 reimagined singles and deep cuts, along with two brand new tracks. Key highlights Moyet’s extensive songwriting prowess, revealing the essence of her creative journey. Reflecting on her nine solo studio albums, Moyet aimed to "examine the progression of these decades and revisit songs that were never fully realized in their original forms or whose significance has evolved over time." This album encapsulates 40 years of musical exploration, presenting a cohesive and dazzling overview of her enduring career.
  5. Club Shy RMX by Shygirl: Following the release of her Club Shy EP in February 2024, which included tracks like "thicc" (featuring Cosha) and "mr useless" (featuring SG Lewis), Shygirl is back with the Club Shy RMX EP. This new release features remixes of all the original Club Shy tracks by artists such as VTSS, Logic1000, X-Coast, and Fedde Le Grand, among others. Additionally, it includes a bonus track titled "encore" featuring Danny L Harle. The ever-evolving Club Shy universe reflects Shygirl’s profound connection to club and electronic music. It has consistently brought together some of the world's most exciting producers and vocalists to display their talents within both a metaphorical and literal club setting.
